This increase is partly due to our ongoing large project in the field of laboratory construction, as well as our successful acquisitions in 2022, which we were able to implement in 2023,” explains CEO Christian Lorenz. In addition to the aforementioned laboratory project, other major projects in 2023, such as the completion of the production facility at Lactosan, the commencement of a large logistics project in wholesale trade, and the third construction phase of the surgery department at the University Hospital in Graz, were key drivers of the revenue growth.

Founded in 1972 and now managed by the second generation, the family-owned company started in steel and industrial construction, which led to its expertise in structural engineering. Since then, Lorenz Consult has evolved into a general contractor with a global presence. In the 1980s, the company expanded into hospital construction, and in 2003, its entry into the pharmaceutical industry established Lorenz Consult as internationally sought-after cleanroom planning experts.

Employee Growth and Locations

“With the increase in revenue, we were also able to expand our team and surpassed 60 employees for the first time in 2023,” says Lorenz. The team now works across four locations. Around 50 people are based at the main office in Graz, and due to the growth in staff, the Graz office was expanded with an additional floor. “The establishment of new locations was the logical consequence of our acquisition strategy with the goal of being closer to our clients,” Lorenz explains. After opening an office in Vienna in 2006, and relocating to a new office in St. Marx at the beginning of 2023, and in Linz in autumn 2022, a new office was also opened in Villach in spring 2023.

When asked about the key to success, Christian Lorenz has a clear answer: “The cohesion of our employees and learning within the team.” In 2024, Lorenz Consult received the Top Company award from kununu for the second year in a row. “Our core competencies in the areas of cleanrooms, plant-intensive industries, logistics, and healthcare are also key factors for our success. We seek out and apply for projects that are technologically demanding and, therefore, complex in their design and implementation. We are most successful when we can integrate all our own disciplines into the projects. That’s when we are highly capable of execution and successful,” says Lorenz.

“What’s important to us is the togetherness, as it helps foster team spirit. We went skiing together, spent two days in Trieste, and traditionally, at the beginning of December, we come together for a wonderful meal to start the holiday season,” Lorenz adds.

Looking ahead, 2024 promises to be filled with many exciting large-scale projects and smaller, interesting ones.
